“The
Six Pillars of Character”
1. Trustworthiness:
is when you do what you say you’re going to do; you’re honest
Ex. When you see your sibling do
something bad and your mom asks you who did it and you say the truth.
Respect: is a
feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their
qualities, abilities, and achievements.
Ex. When someone has completed a
very important mission you may have respect for them caused to their achievements.
2. Responsibility:
is when you have a duty to deal with something or have control over
someone
Ex. When your mom tells you to take
care of your little brother or sister, it’s your responsibility to make sure
nothing bad happened to them.
3. Fairness:
to be consistent, open, and to treat all people equally
Ex. When you are in a group of
people and you’re eating chips and then you decide to give everybody some, that’s
fairness
4. Caring:
to be kind, forgiving, and grateful
Ex. When you see your little sister
struggling with her homework and then you decide to help her, that’s caring
5. Citizenship:
obey laws, protect the environment, and volunteer
Ex. When you follow the rules in school
and at home, that is citizenship
Reflection: a lot of people don’t follow
the six pillars of character. Some people may follow them and those people are
choosing the right.
