911 Memorial

911 Memorial

On September 11, 200, the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airlines and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the plains were directed into the towers of the towers of the Trade Center in New York City, a third air plane hit the Pentagon just Washington D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. The attacks destroyed a lot of things and killed a lot of people. That triggered major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism. More than 3,000 people were killed in the attacks in New York City and in Washington D.C., including over that 400 firefighters and police officers.

An American Boeing 767 crashed into the north tower at 8:45 a.m. on a Tuesday. The air plane hit the 80th floor of the 110-story skyscraper. It instantly killed hundreds of people also trapping people in the higher floors. Eighteen minutes after a second Boeing 767 hit the south tower near the 60th floor. There was a massive explosion that showered burning debris over the streets below and surrounding buildings. America was under attack. The attackers were Islamic Arabia and several other Arab nations. Less than 15 minutes later after the terrorist struck the nerve center in the U.S. military, the south tower of the World Trade Center collapsed in a massive cloud of smoke and dust. At 10:30 a.m. the other tower collapsed. Twenty-three New York City police officers and thirty-seven Port Authority officers who were struggling to complete evacuation of the buildings and save the office workers trapped in higher floors. About 10,000 other people were treated for injuries, many of them were sever.

Reflection: I was 1 year old about to be 2 so I don’t remember anything. Now that I know about it I don’t know how to express my feelings towards this. It’s sad to know how many people died caused to that tragedy. Its heart breaking to know what happened.
